Hardware Button
This is probably the most common method for smartphones and it transfers over to the Galaxy S5 as well. You just need to head to the screen that you want to grab a screenshot of and press and hold the Power and Home button for a second until you see the edges of the screen flash. Once you’ve done that, the screenshot will be saved in your Screenshots album in your gallery and you can do what you will with it: share it, keep it a secret, e-mail it, edit it.

Palm Gesture
This is probably a little less known and can be used to quickly take a screenshot with a gesture. All you have to do is swipe the edge of your palm across the screen and you’ll see the same flash on the edges of the screen indicating that you’ve successfully taken a screenshot. As with the method above, the screenshot will be saved in your Screenshots album and can be played with from there.

You can directly edit or even share the captured screenshots from the notification panel. You can even enable option to directly edit the screenshot, when you have taken the screenshot. I found this info in here, www.spinfold.com/take-screenshot-in-samsung-galaxy-s5/

Thanks for your comments Philipp and Saem! Though I understand your point of views, there are so many people out there who are beginners, and who don't know how to take a screenshot. What's more, they probably don't know there is more than one method to do it with some smartphones. Both of you are experience Android users, but someone who has just received an Android phone for their first time, would likely search for these terms. The reason we do a tutorial per device is because users are likely not to search for the how-to's in general, but in combination with their particular device. And for those phones with two methods, a general guide would not be as helpful. Hopefully you can understand this :)

might be true but making a single topic which has the main ways (button combo) and then in the tags all the devices affected by that and then some for the manufacturer specific thing like samsungs hand-swipe and S-Pen waysin seperate things. and not one for every phone especially if the methods are pretty much/exactly the same (like S3/4/5)

Exactly! This is my first smartphone, the galaxy s5, so I did a search for just this phone. I don't want to have to dredge through comments that need qualifiers for the various phones. I only want answers relating to my phone.

do you giys really need to make general guides for every phone that exists? I tihnk you have done one on the S4 and/pr Note 3 and the only thing that has changed is that the S-Pen Method from Note 3 wont work at the S5 but the rest is THE SAME...
would be nice to create one article for general as most of them are the same non-Sasmung and Samsung without home button -> Power + Vol down, Samsung with Homebutton Power+Home maybe you have the gesture in the settings, if you have an S-Pen, add tap+hold while you have the button pressed to the list.
easy as that...

Exactly my thoughts. Agreed that you are doing so just for people new on android but you should make one general article and write them as a list of devices.
